I get it. I didn’t think planning was for me either.
I remember a few years back, buying my 7th yearly calendar. I was so excited so start planning my days (again).
I had already bought 6 calendars before that and all of them had ended up on a dusty shelf about a month in.
I told myself that this time was going to be different. I had even bought a special pen to use only with the calendar.
The first day was great. I put it in my purse on my way to work and as soon as I had my first coffee break I picked it up and wrote down what all the things that I wanted to do that day.
The second day, on my coffee break, I forgot to look at it. And on the 5th day I had already forgotten I had it in my purse.
Once again I had let myself down, and it was with frustration and anger that I two weeks later put it on the dusty shelf with the rest of the calendars I never used.
I couldn’t understand why it was so hard for me to plan what I wanted to do and to follow through on it.
Now I know.
It’s not enough to have just the process and the structure.
You also need the mind work.
It doesn’t matter if you have the most luxurious or detailed planner, if you don’t have the tools to help you follow through on it.
And that is the missing puzzle piece for every one that I meet who have tried to plan their time in the past and not been successful at it.
That is why it never worked for me before, regardless of how many times I tried.
We need to understand why we don’t remember to look at our calendar, even if we know that is the key thing we need to do.
Or why we at the end of the day look back on the 7 things we said we were going to do, and did not do any of them.
And that is exactly what I teach my clients. A combination of processes and structure, and the mind work that is required to follow through on it.
It doesn’t matter if you have tried a 100 times before, if you only had one of two pieces it’s no wonder why you think it isn’t for you. I used to think this to.
The only reason you haven’t been successful at it in the past is because you didn’t have mind work.
So if you are tired of looking back at your days, wondering why you didn’t do the things you said you were going to do, let’s change that.
